Rev. Father heads pan-Yoruba militia

A new twist has been added to activities of Oodua People Congress (OPC) as a reverend father was pronounced new coordinator of the pan-Yoruba militia group.

A new twist has been added to activities of Oodua People Congress (OPC) as a reverend father was pronounced new coordinator of the pan-Yoruba militia group.

Rev. Fr. Olufemi Bade Gboyega, son of the newly appointed Secretary to the Ekiti State Government (SSG), Chief Bade Gboyega, was last Thursday appointed state OPC coordinator . Gboyega's appointment was announced when hundreds of OPC members in the state paid a courtesy visit to Governor Ayo Fayose at Government House, Ado-Ekiti.

His appointment was sequel to the dismissal of Mr. Adeniyi Adedipe by the state chapter of the congress for alleged unruly behaviour and maladministration.

Adedipe was also alleged to have produced forged OPC identification cards, participated in political thuggery, rebelled against constituted authority and indulged in gross misbehaviour to some royal fathers in the state.

Receiving the OPC members, Fayose commended them for sacking their former leader, saying "a person of his status is not decent enough to lead the OPC."

The governor said he became fed up with the Adeniyi Adedipe-led OPC in the state when he learnt that the former leader went to an Oba's palace and used cutlass and stick to remove the crown of the traditional ruler. Fayose also accused the sacked OPC man of using a vehicle with tinted glasses as well as using irregular plate number marked, OPC 01.
